Murray’s best chance to win a Grand Slam
On Thursday 28th January 2010, British tennis star Andy Murray defeated Croatia’s Marin Cilic, in the semi-final of the Australian Open. Murray reached his second Grand Slam final after a 3-6 6-4 6-4 6-2 victory of the Croatian. This could be Murray’s best chance to end the 74 year wait that saw Brit Fred Perry win a Grand Slam in 1936.
Murray will play either Frenchman Jo-Wilfred Tsonga or the world’s number one, Roger Federer. I feel Murray will win his first Grand Slam of his career because I think he is playing the best tennis of his life. Today Murray played some outstanding shots in order to defeat Cilic.
We all thought Murray would win his first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon last year. As this hope was ended by American Andy Roddick, I feel this will be the time that he will prevail and win his first Grand Slam. Winning would show that he is recognised as a champion and deserve his place in the world’s top 4!
I feel that Andy can end British hopes and bring the Australian Open title back to Britain. I hope I could be in the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne for this Sunday’s final, but I will be watching on television with belief that he can win!
